Biblical Faith, Reverent Worship, Evangelical Preaching

Welcome in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd is a church-plant committed to celebrating Jesus through his Word and Sacraments: we grow in our Christian faith through biblical preaching, and we encounter Jesus through his Sacraments.

We know Jesus through the communion of the saints, for wherever two or three are gathered in his name, he promises to be in the midst of them.

We invite you to experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit so that we may be reconciled back to a hallowed relationship with God. The people of Good Shepherd are on this journey together. Together we grow in Christ; together we grow in our salvation; together we find healing in the gospel!

We are located in Pelham, Shelby County, and have members from Alabaster, Helena, Calera, Chelsea, Hoover, Birmingham, and Jefferson County. Join us as we minister to the Greater Birmingham Metro area with the love of Jesus Christ!

About Us

Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd is a church-plant in Pelham, AL. We are a mission of the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy, which is home to all chaplains – military, vocational, governmental, etc. within the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

We worship in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24), namely by following the ancient way of worshiping the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in Word and Sacrament. We preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, unadulterated. We feast on Him by faith in the Lord’s Supper. Then we dismiss with the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations, starting right here in our homes, our hometowns, and our workplaces.

It is for this reason that we have adopted the following mission to serve and guide us in ministry: “Love God by Serving our Neighbor.” If you are new to liturgical worship or Anglicanism, let me invite you to ask me any questions you may have. Simply listen to the service and let it flow over you. Join in where you are comfortable and remember that our worship is based upon pulling the words of Holy Scriptures and putting them together so we are responding to God’s call on our life by responding to Him through the Holy Word He has provided us.

We have a dedicated space for children’s ministry and we will dismiss the children just prior to the sermon. The children will rejoin us after the sermon so they can be present with us during Holy Communion.

All people are invited to the altar rails. Those baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, confirmed or desiring confirmation, and leading penitent lives are invited to partake of Holy Communion. Others are invited to come forward to receive a blessing.

Vision & Values

Our vision is to be a growing and faithful church plant that boldly pronounces the Gospel to the people of North Shelby County (Hoover, Helena, Pelham, Oak Mountain, Calera, Chelsea) by our words and our deeds. We strive to live by our motto: Love God by Serving Our Neighbors.

One way we serve our neighbors is through taking food and clothing donations for Oak Mountain Missions to serve those who are in need. Please feel free to bring a donation when you visit!

Our values and beliefs are outlined in the classic Book of Common Prayer and Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion.
